In a gesture aimed at promoting religious inclusivity and national unity, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has extended his annual religious support initiative to the Christian community with a donation to the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) ahead of its 2025 National Delegates Conference.
The donation, made on Tuesday in Accra, included 250 packs of bottled water and an undisclosed amount of money to facilitate preparations for the upcoming conference scheduled for Wednesday, June 25.
Mr. Boamah, who has consistently supported the Muslim community through similar gestures during key religious events, emphasized that the annual support will now extend equally to Christian gatherings as part of his broader effort to foster interfaith solidarity.
“This is part of my commitment to ensuring that both Christian and Muslim communities receive equal support in their efforts to build a morally grounded and unified society,” he said.
Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the GPCC, received the donation on behalf of the Council. He praised the MP’s act as one that transcends politics, describing it as a “powerful example of goodwill and religious cooperation.”
“This kind of support helps build bridges between faith groups and promotes the peace we enjoy as a nation,” Apostle Nyamekye said.
The 2025 GPCC National Delegates Conference will bring together church leaders from across the country to deliberate on pressing national and ecclesiastical issues affecting the Pentecostal and Charismatic communities.
Observers say Mr. Boamah’s donation signals a growing recognition among public figures of the importance of engaging religious institutions as partners in national development and social cohesion.
