Education in Vakpo-Yordan-Nu in the North Dayi District has received a major boost following the commissioning of a new classroom block for the White Cross D/A Basic School by the area’s Member of Parliament, Madam Joycelyn Tetteh.
The facility, which replaces years of makeshift structures and open-air learning, marks a turning point in the educational fortunes of the rural community.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Madam Tetteh reaffirmed her commitment to bridging the rural education gap, noting that no child should have to study under trees or in unsafe conditions.
“This is not just a building — it is an investment in the potential of our children,” she said. “Every child in North Dayi deserves the opportunity to learn in dignity and safety.”
The new classroom block, equipped with modern learning spaces and a staff common room furnished with new tables and chairs, will provide a conducive environment for both pupils and teachers.
Madam Tetteh praised the collective effort of community leaders and stakeholders whose cooperation made the project possible. She described the achievement as proof that “development thrives where unity and shared purpose exist.”
Teachers and parents present at the event expressed relief and excitement over the improved infrastructure. They noted that harsh weather conditions had long disrupted lessons, forcing children to miss classes during the rainy season.
In appreciation of her efforts, the Yordan-Nu White Cross Mission presented the MP with a citation of honour, celebrating her unwavering commitment to education.
Madam Tetteh described the recognition as humbling and motivating, pledging to continue expanding educational access and infrastructure across North Dayi.
“This gesture reminds me why we must keep working — for every child who dreams and for every teacher who gives their best,” she remarked.
The commissioning ceremony drew community members, local leaders, and education officials, all of whom lauded the MP’s initiative as a symbol of hope and progress for rural education in the constituency.
