The Oti Region is taking decisive steps to strengthen its development agenda by modernising public procurement systems and improving the capacity of officers responsible for managing public funds.
Opening a regional workshop on the 2025 Public Procurement Law Amendments and the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS), Oti Regional Minister Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong emphasised that upgrading procurement processes is central to delivering impactful public projects.
The training brought together Coordinating Directors, Departmental Heads, and procurement officers from municipal and district assemblies across the region, all seeking to deepen their understanding of the new legal reforms and digital tools guiding public procurement.
According to Mr. Gyapong, key sectors such as health, education, infrastructure and agriculture depend heavily on efficient procurement systems, making the ongoing reforms critical to the region’s development priorities.
He explained that the introduction of GHANEPS and the revised procurement law represents more than procedural changes—it signals a shift towards a more transparent, digital-driven, and accountable public financial management system.
“These reforms are meant to guarantee value for money and ensure that every procurement decision contributes meaningfully to the growth of the Oti Region,” he stated.
The Minister encouraged participants to engage fully in the capacity-building workshop, stressing that the effectiveness of public service delivery depends largely on how well procurement officers apply these new systems in their daily operations.
By strengthening procurement structures, the region hopes to minimise waste, improve project outcomes and fast-track development initiatives that benefit citizens.
