Ghanaian gospel powerhouse Philipa Baafi has marked her return to the music scene with a brand-new single, W’apegya Menhyira Mu, released on Sunday, September 7, 2025 — her first in two years.
After a quiet spell focused on personal and ministry commitments, Baafi says the song was birthed out of deep spiritual reflection and a desire to “bring restoration and healing to souls burdened by spiritual struggles.”
Speaking on No.1 FM’s Gospel Showbiz with hosts Taller and Dee, Baafi revealed that the message behind the song was inspired by divine direction rather than commercial intent.
“This song is spirit-led. It came from a place of prayer and revelation. I want it to correct spiritual errors and remind people of God’s grace even when they feel forgotten,” she said.
The celebrated gospel singer, whose illustrious career spans more than two decades, is known for soul-stirring hits such as Go High, Okyeso Nyame, and Mogya Nakasa. Her latest release adds to a rich musical catalogue that has shaped Ghana’s contemporary gospel scene.
Baafi’s journey in music began at age nine, singing at the Bantama Methodist Church in Kumasi and neighbouring congregations. She later honed her craft at St. Monica’s Secondary School in Asante Mampong before releasing her debut album, Nyame Honhon Sane, in 1999 — a project that launched her into national prominence.
Fans and gospel enthusiasts have already described W’apegya Menhyira Mu as a powerful comeback, blending Baafi’s signature vocals with a message of hope and deliverance that speaks to today’s spiritual battles.
