A suspected 19-year-old armed robber is standing trial after an alleged robbery attempt at an Agbogba Junction filling station ended with him being shot by his own accomplice and abandoned at the scene.
The accused, Emmanuel Kwaku Amanor, popularly known as High Sense Price, appeared before the Adentan Circuit Court where he was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted robbery.
His mother, Faustina Deyon, has also been charged with harbouring a criminal. While Amanor was remanded into lawful custody, Faustina was granted bail of GH¢100,000 with three sureties and ordered to report weekly to the investigator.
The case has been adjourned to September 14, 2026, for a Case Management Conference.
Presenting the facts before the court, Chief Inspector Jacob Nyarko, the prosecutor, said Amanor, a barber, allegedly planned the robbery with two accomplices — Eugene Kwabena Kweisi, alias Trouble, and Isalah Kwesi Nartey, alias Poison.
The court heard that on June 12, 2026, the three allegedly armed themselves with a pump action gun, machetes and knives before arriving at the filling station around 11:00 p.m.
According to the prosecution, Amanor confronted a pump attendant, Evans Keampah, and demanded the day’s sales, while Kweisi allegedly pointed a firearm at the attendant.
However, the operation reportedly went wrong when Kweisi accidentally fired the gun, hitting Amanor in the thigh.
The prosecution said Kweisi and Nartey escaped on a motorcycle, leaving their injured colleague behind.
Workers and residents alerted the Police, who arrived at the scene, arrested Amanor and transported him to the Police Hospital for treatment.
Chief Inspector Nyarko told the court that during interrogation, Amanor admitted to planning the robbery with his accomplices and claimed ownership of the pump action gun. Police also recovered a spent cartridge and a live cartridge from the crime scene.
The prosecution said that on June 17, Amanor assisted Police in efforts to arrest Kweisi and Nartey at Asuboi, but the two suspects were not found.
A search conducted at Kweisi’s room in the presence of Faustina allegedly led to the discovery of two machetes and three kitchen knives.
Police investigations also revealed that Faustina allegedly knew about Kweisi’s criminal activities and had advised him and Nartey to flee after learning that Amanor had been shot during the robbery attempt.
The prosecution further told the court that an Infinix Hot mobile phone allegedly acquired with proceeds from robbery was retrieved from Faustina, while the unregistered Haojue 125 motorcycle allegedly used in the operation was found at Nartey’s residence.
Police said efforts were ongoing to arrest the two accomplices who remain at large.
