The Ghana Police Service has intensified efforts to arrest a prime suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of Wisdom Tetteh Assem at Adokorpe in the Ada East District.
The incident, which occurred on February 14 near Kassar Bar, reportedly followed a confrontation between the deceased and a worker at a nearby block factory over an alleged attempt to urinate on the factory premises. Eyewitnesses say the misunderstanding escalated into a physical altercation, after which the suspect allegedly returned with a sharp object and stabbed the victim multiple times. He was later pronounced dead.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joseph Atsu Djineku, Ada Divisional Police Commander, confirmed that one person has been arrested to assist with investigations, while the main suspect remains at large. He assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the individual. ACP Djineku also urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully, cautioning that violent incidents could negatively affect the area’s image among visitors and investors.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has appealed for swift justice. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. David Kofi Assem, an uncle of the victim, called on the police to intensify their search and also question the owner of the block factory where the suspect reportedly worked.
“We will not relent until justice is served,” he said, urging authorities to expedite investigations.
Madam Doris Adede Assem, sister of the deceased, expressed shock over the incident and appealed to the public to volunteer information that could aid in the suspect’s arrest. She described her late brother as hardworking and respectful, noting that he had recently completed his carpentry apprenticeship.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
