The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for several individuals believed to be connected to a violent attack at Gbiniyiri in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region, following the arrest of three key suspects.
The suspects—Yaw Bamuah, Yaa Bokaa and Kuma Simpor—were apprehended on March 14 during a coordinated operation involving the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Intelligence Team and the Savannah Regional Police Command.
According to a police statement, investigations have expanded after one of the suspects, Yaw Bamuah, allegedly confessed to participating in the attack and identified additional accomplices who remain at large. The individuals named include Anuda Borour, Pobiye, Bitunor Sansa and James Sanyuah.
Police say efforts are underway to track down these persons as part of ongoing investigations into the case, which involves allegations of murder and causing harm.
Preliminary findings suggest the attack may have been carried out as an act of retaliation linked to the earlier killing of a relative of one of the suspects. The deceased is believed to have been attacked by robbers suspected to be of Fulani origin, according to the statement.
As part of the investigation, the police retrieved a weapon and ammunition after the suspect reportedly led officers to his residence in Gbiniyiri. The items recovered include a single-barrel shotgun and two live cartridges, which were allegedly concealed within the compound.
The three arrested suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations. Authorities say they will be arraigned before court in due course.
Meanwhile, security agencies have assured the public that operations are ongoing to apprehend all individuals connected to the incident and to ensure law and order in the area.
