Mrs. Portia Acheampong Abronye, wife of Bono Regional NPP Chairman Kwame Baffoe, has launched a scathing attack on what she describes as the growing culture of online misinformation, after a YouTube channel alleged she had filed for divorce.
In a statement released on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, she dismissed the report as “baseless, unfounded, and misleading,” stressing that her marriage remains intact.
She accused the channel—The Debate with Munufie—of deliberately spreading falsehoods to attract attention and drive online traffic. “The individual behind the so-called YouTube channel lacks integrity, decency, and professionalism,” she charged, adding that such practices amount to malicious propaganda designed to tarnish reputations.
While her immediate focus is on securing bail for her husband, who is currently standing trial, Mrs. Abronye noted that she is also consulting her lawyers on possible legal action against those responsible for publishing the defamatory claims.
The incident underscores the rising challenge of fake news in Ghana’s digital media space, where unverified allegations can quickly spread and damage reputations.
