Remitly, a global leader in digital money transfers, took centre stage as a cultural ambassador during the 20th anniversary of the Ghana Party in the Park (GPITP), reaffirming its support for African heritage, community, and celebration in the diaspora.
Held at the Barnet Playing Fields in London on Saturday, July 12, 2025, this year’s edition of the GPITP festival was a sold-out spectacle, drawing thousands of attendees from across the UK and Europe. While the electrifying musical performances and vibrant displays of Ghanaian culture dazzled the crowd, it was the strategic involvement of Remitly that provided the backbone for the event’s seamless execution.
Dennis Tawiah, CEO of Akwaaba UK and organiser of the festival, praised Remitly’s sponsorship as not just financial support but a meaningful partnership rooted in community impact.
“Remitly didn’t just write a cheque—they showed up for the community,” Mr. Tawiah stated after the concert. “Their support was timely and instrumental in pulling off such a large-scale celebration. We hope to continue this relationship and build even more exciting editions in the future.”
In addition to funding, Remitly engaged with the crowd through giveaways, exclusive offers, and on-site promotions, encouraging the Ghanaian diaspora to utilise their mobile app for fast, secure money transfers.
“The Ghanaian and African communities across Europe are the heart of our business,” a Remitly representative noted. “Partnering with GPITP allows us to celebrate our customers and honour their culture.”
The 20th anniversary concert delivered a powerhouse of performances from top-tier Ghanaian acts, including King Promise, Kweku Smoke, DopeNation, Flowking Stone, Cina Soul, MOLIY, Beeztrap KOTM, and Fuse ODG. The crowd was treated to not just music, but a full cultural immersion—complete with traditional foods, fashion exhibitions, and a thriving business expo that spotlighted Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
More than just a party, GPITP 2025 served as a platform to unify the diaspora, celebrate Ghana’s global influence, and spotlight businesses committed to empowering African communities.
With Remitly’s involvement, the event moved beyond entertainment to become a strategic partnership that fused culture with commerce—and laid the groundwork for even bigger celebrations to come.
