Emergency responders were forced into a swift rescue operation following a devastating early morning crash at Tahiru Akura in the Kintampo North Municipality, which claimed eight lives and left 27 others injured.
The accident, which occurred around 3:00 a.m. on April 3, involved a Benz cargo truck heading towards Kumasi and a Hyundai passenger bus en route to Widana in the Bawku area. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing severe damage and trapping several passengers in the wreckage.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were deployed to the scene, where they worked alongside other responders to rescue victims, some of whom had to be carefully extricated from the crushed vehicles.
The injured were transported to the Kintampo Government Hospital for urgent medical attention, while authorities continue to monitor their condition.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Isaac Donkor, later visited the facility to assess the situation and offer support to victims and health personnel.
Meanwhile, the bodies of those who lost their lives, including the bus driver, have been deposited at the municipal hospital morgue as investigations begin to determine the cause of the tragic collision.
