Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie is aiming for an even bigger international stage after his Rapperholic concert sold out the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London.
The event, which filled the 5,000-capacity venue, attracted fans from across the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe, marking one of the rapper’s most significant performances outside Ghana.
Following the successful concert, Sarkodie expressed gratitude to the organisers who helped stage the show, including Bizzle Entertainment and Kilimanjaro Live.
In a social media message after the performance, the award-winning artist particularly acknowledged Berny Sarfo, Chief Executive of Bizzle Entertainment, for his role in helping create what he described as a milestone moment for his brand and Ghanaian music on the global stage.
Encouraged by the strong turnout, Sarkodie has now set his sights on taking the Rapperholic concert to the larger O2 Arena in London next year. The venue, which has a seating capacity of about 20,000, regularly hosts major international music acts.
Commenting on the success of the concert, Mr Sarfo described the Royal Albert Hall event as a historic moment for Ghanaian music in the UK and expressed confidence that the rapper could attract an even larger audience in the future.
“This was the biggest concert held by any Ghanaian act in recent years in the UK, and I hope Sarkodie can build on it next year by hosting the concert at the O2 Arena,” he said, adding that preparations were already underway to make the planned event a reality.
Sarkodie launched the Rapperholic concert series in 2012, and the annual event has since grown into a major platform for promoting Ghanaian hip-hop and Afrobeats both locally and internationally.
