Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has criticised the organisers of ShattaFest UK, accusing them of prioritising financial gain over the safety of fans and attendees.
Speaking after the London event was disrupted following a crowd surge outside the venue, Shatta Wale said the organisers made decisions that, in his view, compromised public safety.
“When I say greed, you go make it do something then later you say, ‘How, how, how?’ Greed,” he said.
The musician suggested that he had concerns about the organisers’ approach even before the event began.
“I don’t even see the setup yet, but I see what he is trying to do,” he stated.
Shatta Wale questioned why an event intended to entertain fans should be organised in a way that could put lives at risk.
“Why will you make people come and lose their lives because of what you want to gain? What is this?” he asked.
The comments come after ShattaFest UK was brought to an early end following an incident outside the venue that reportedly led to injuries and a crowd surge.
The organisers subsequently announced the cancellation of the event, citing safety concerns and stating that investigations were being conducted by the relevant authorities.
Shatta Wale’s remarks have intensified public scrutiny of the planning and crowd management arrangements for the event, with many supporters calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disruption.
