Dancehall superstar Shatta Wale turned his 2025 birthday concert into more than just a music celebration — it became a moment of gratitude and reconciliation within Ghana’s music industry.
During the mega event held at the Independence (Black Star) Square in Accra on Saturday, October 18, Shatta Wale paused his high-energy performance to pay an emotional tribute to rapper Tinny, describing him as a brother who supported him in his darkest days.
Before inviting Tinny on stage, the Melissa hitmaker recounted how the veteran Hiplife artist once provided him with food, clothes, and shelter when he had nothing. “Ladies and gentlemen, this man I’m about to introduce is the man who took care of me when I didn’t have food, clothing, phone and shelter,” he said, before adding, “Ladies and gentlemen, let me welcome T.I.N.N.Y — Tinny!”
The crowd erupted as Tinny joined him on stage to perform their classic collaboration Moko Hoo, recreating a nostalgic moment that resonated deeply with fans. The rapper responded with a heartfelt prayer for Shatta Wale and his supporters: “God bless everybody who supports Shatta Wale. You will make it in life.”
In a rare public gesture of humility, Shatta Wale knelt before Tinny in appreciation — a scene that drew loud cheers and admiration from fans across social media.
The star-studded Shatta Fest concert, which attracted tens of thousands of fans, has since been hailed as one of the biggest live music events of the year. Industry colleagues, including Reggae/Dancehall artist Epixode, praised Wale’s performance and authenticity. “Let it be written that he is him! Gold from the rock,” Epixode wrote on X.
Even longtime critic and entertainer David Oscar Dogbe acknowledged the significance of the moment, posting, “Even if you hate Charles Nii Armah Mensah, this is one of those moments where you just have to stop and doff your cap. Let’s keep hoping that he will mature in his ways towards Stonebwoy. If he does, Ghana wins bigger.”
The emotional tribute between Shatta Wale and Tinny has since sparked renewed conversations about gratitude, unity, and mentorship within Ghana’s music scene.
