Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur Sparqlyn, known in private life as Ahmmed Kanneh Larweh, has been recognized by the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) for his immense contributions to the music industry and youth development.
At a prestigious ceremony held at the National Theater on March 6, 2025, during the annual Akwaaba Festival, Sparqlyn was presented with two elegant plaques and a beautifully crafted citation for his dedication to Ghanaian music. The event was organized by MUSIGA under the auspices of key government agencies, including the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration, and the Ghana Tourism Authority.
Beyond his musical achievements, Sparqlyn also holds a chieftaincy title as Noryam Matse, the Development Chief of Manye Krobo. His citation, signed by Elizabeth Tagoe of the Tagoe Sisters (Chairperson of MUSIGA’s Greater Accra Chapter), specifically acknowledged his dedication to nurturing young talents and fostering unity among the Ga Adangbe people.
Visibly moved by the honor, Sparqlyn expressed deep gratitude to MUSIGA and his supporters, reaffirming his commitment to using his platform and traditional role to empower the youth and promote Ghanaian music.
“This recognition means a lot to me. I will continue to support the music industry and create opportunities for young artists,” he said during a media interaction after the event.
Since its inception in 2022, the Akwaaba Festival has grown into a significant cultural event, celebrating Ghanaian music and recognizing the achievements of industry stakeholders. With influential artists like Sparqlyn being honored, the festival continues to solidify its place as a key platform for promoting Ghana’s rich musical heritage.
