Ghanaian musician and development chief, Sparqlyn, has been celebrated not only for his musical prowess but also for his powerful role in youth development and cultural leadership, earning him three prestigious awards at the 2025 Stars Awards.
Known in private life as Ahmmed Kanneh Larweh, Sparqlyn also holds the traditional title Nene Kanneh Larweh I (Noryam Matse) of Krobo Odumase, where he has been actively engaged in community upliftment efforts, especially among the youth.
At the fifth edition of the Stars Awards, Sparqlyn was honoured with:
-
Youth Development Honour (under his chieftaincy title),
-
Contribution to Ghana and African Music & Culture Award, and
-
Africa Artiste of the Decade Award.
These accolades, presented through symbolic crystal plaques and personalised citations, reflect Sparqlyn’s growing legacy as a musician with a mission—blending artistry with social impact and cultural preservation.
“These honours remind me that the work we do in our communities matters just as much as the music we make,” Sparqlyn said in a post-event statement, thanking his supporters and traditional leaders.
The Stars Awards, which has previously honoured cultural icons like Edem and actor France Emmanuel, recognised Sparqlyn not just for his consistent musical contributions, but for the mentorship, guidance, and empowerment he provides to the next generation under his traditional role.
This year alone has seen a series of recognitions for Sparqlyn. In March 2025, the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) presented him with an Outstanding Contribution to Ghana Music award and a Youth Empowerment Award at the Akwaaba Festival. In June, he was also crowned African Best Ghanaian Musician of the Year at the African Performance Leadership Awards (APLA) in Lagos.
As a creative force straddling the worlds of modern music and traditional leadership, Sparqlyn continues to inspire the youth, proving that art, culture, and service to community can coexist to forge a transformative legacy.
