The Member of Parliament for Tano South, Charles Akwasi Asiedu, has intensified calls for a crackdown on illegal mining activities in the constituency, warning that anyone involved will face prosecution.
Speaking at Masin, Mr Asiedu stressed that farmers, landowners and residents who support illegal mining operations, particularly those involving foreign nationals, would not be spared.
He said the government remains firmly opposed to illegal mining and is committed to protecting farmlands and the environment from destruction.
Mr Asiedu urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the security agencies or the Tano South Municipal Assembly.
According to him, stronger cooperation between local communities, the Assembly and security services is key to dealing with the growing threat of illegal mining.
He added that he would work closely with Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong and the security agencies to prevent illegal mining from spreading in the area.
