Nollywood actor Tobi Bakre has criticised gender discrimination in the entertainment industry, stressing that women play a vital and often underappreciated role in creative production.
Speaking on the Mentality podcast hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the actor said professionals who avoid working with women are limiting their own growth and readiness for the industry.
He argued that talent and productivity should matter more than gender, adding that his own career has been shaped significantly by collaborations with women.
According to him, he has worked extensively with female colleagues and found them to be highly committed, creative, and ego-free in their approach to work.
“If you don’t want to work with a woman, I don’t believe you’re ready to grow in life. Women are so powerful,” he said.
Bakre further explained that his focus has always been on delivering results rather than considering gender when choosing collaborators, noting that professionalism is what drives successful productions.
He added that many of the women he has worked with share a strong work ethic and a collaborative mindset that helps improve the quality of projects.
His remarks have since sparked conversation about inclusivity and equality within the entertainment space.
