Thirty-six pupils from schools in the Obuasi East and Obuasi Municipalities put their creativity and technical skills on display at the grand finale of a STEM bootcamp organised by AngloGold Ashanti.
The participants, drawn from eight basic school STEM clubs, showcased projects they developed during the five-day programme, with many of the ideas aimed at solving practical problems within their communities.
The bootcamp forms part of AngloGold Ashanti’s broader investment in education and youth development, particularly in science and technology. A key part of that effort is the company’s Robotics Training Centre, commissioned in 2025.
Students from Primary Four to JHS Two received hands-on training in coding, robotics, electronics, mechanical engineering, 3D design and creative problem-solving.
Speaking at the event, Mr Edmund Oduro Agyei, Community Relations Manager of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, said technology was shaping sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education and communication, making it important to prepare young people for the future.
He encouraged the pupils to remain curious and continue exploring opportunities in STEM fields.
Mr George Alfred Koomson, Municipal Director of Education in Obuasi, praised AngloGold Ashanti for supporting STEM education and helping young people build skills in innovation, creativity and technology.
