The stage is set for a pulsating 2025/26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season following the release of the official fixture list by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with fans bracing for early fireworks and mouthwatering encounters — including an eagerly anticipated Super Clash in just week five.
Scheduled to kick off in the second week of September, the new season promises a mix of familiar rivalries and fresh narratives, as new entrants and returning giants seek to make their mark.
Among the headline fixtures, defending league champions Bibiani Gold Stars will launch their title defence on home turf against Bechem United at the Duns Park — a matchup that could set the tone for what many expect to be a competitive campaign.
Hearts of Oak, meanwhile, begin their hunt for glory against newcomers Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium, while Asante Kotoko, fresh off their FA Cup triumph, will travel to Sunyani to face Berekum Chelsea in a tricky opening fixture.
Historic club Swedru All Blacks, back in the top flight after years in the wilderness, face a baptism of fire against Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
But all eyes will be on week five, when Ghana’s fiercest football rivalry takes centre stage — the first leg of the Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak. The Porcupine Warriors will host the Phobians at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, aiming to extend their recent dominance in the fixture. The reverse clash will light up week 22.
The GFA has confirmed that the league calendar has been adjusted to align with the 23rd FIFA World Cup, which takes place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
In preparation for the season, stakeholders are expected to gather at the Ordinary GFA Congress on Tuesday, August 12, 2026, to finalise logistics and review modalities for the new campaign.
As anticipation builds across the country, fans and pundits alike are already predicting shocks, breakout stars, and a thrilling race for supremacy in what is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory.
