The commissioning of a modern Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) ultra centre in Jasikan is set to strengthen road safety and streamline vehicle and driver services across the Oti Region, officials have said.
Speaking at the opening, John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, urged motorbike and tricycle riders to ensure their vehicles are fully documented, warning that the operational centre eliminates excuses for non-compliance and will aid police enforcement of road safety laws.
The facility, developed through a Public-Private Partnership between DVLA and Mr Yaw Osei, Director of Tacos JP Limited, is equipped with advanced digital systems designed to deliver faster, efficient, and convenient services. Residents can now access a full range of services including new and renewed driver’s licences, vehicle registration, and replacement of lost or expired documents.
Traditional authorities, including Nana Obeng Offori Appew VI, lauded the project, describing it as a milestone for development, community pride, and economic growth in Guaman.
DVLA CEO Julius Neequaye Kotey highlighted that the centre reflects the authority’s commitment to President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda” and emphasised that proper licensing, vehicle registration, and driver certification remain crucial for safer roads in the region.
The Jasikan ultra centre is expected to reduce congestion, improve service delivery, and promote compliance with traffic regulations, marking a key step in enhancing road safety and boosting public confidence in the region’s transport system.
