Matrix Netball Club from Ada has continued to showcase its rising netball prowess, securing the bronze medal at the 69th Independence Day Netball Championship for the Greater Accra Region held at Tema Community Eight.
The tournament featured four teams competing for a spot in the finals, with Matrix demonstrating resilience and skill despite a challenging start. The Ada-based team narrowly lost their opening match 6–9 against La-Teshie’s Future Stars, in a contest shortened to 10 minutes due to time constraints.
Undeterred by the initial setback, Matrix bounced back emphatically. They shut out Newbies Netball Club from Awoshie 7–0 before dominating fellow Ada side Vision Netball Club 14–0. With a total of 27 goals scored and only six conceded across three matches, the team finished with a +21 goal difference, securing third place.
Future Stars topped the group on goal difference after a tight series of matches, while Vision and Newbies rounded out the standings.
Coach Ebenezer Mawusour Kisseh praised the team’s determination, saying, “We are proud of the fighting spirit shown by our girls. The journey continues—stronger, better, and more united, just as our motto depicts: ‘Pride of Ada, Power on Court.’” Assistant Coach Timothy Kutsuafor echoed the sentiments, highlighting the growth of netball in the Ada area.
Matrix’s achievement builds on their earlier success in the Naana Kakie Foundation Netball Competition in January 2026, further cementing their reputation as one of the region’s emerging netball clubs.
The Independence Day Championship, designed to promote youth participation and sports development across the Greater Accra Region, showcased competitive matches and underscored the talent and potential of upcoming netball teams like Matrix.
