Before she became one of Nollywood’s most recognized faces, Eucharia Anunobi credits her early modelling career as a stepping stone that not only supported her education but also introduced her to the entertainment industry.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, monitored by MyNewsGh, Anunobi reflected on how modelling during her university years gave her financial independence and confidence. “I realised I had unique features, height, and shape, and I maximised it,” she said.
Her modelling work quickly drew attention, and she became a standout at fashion shows, frequently opening runways with dramatic designs. Collaborating with prominent fashion designers, Anunobi not only honed her stage presence but also built a network that would later prove invaluable for her acting career.
“The money I earned from modelling allowed me to fund my education,” she recalled. “In a sense, I was a rich student.”
Beyond the financial benefits, modelling also gave Anunobi her first taste of performing in front of audiences, preparing her for the transition into acting. Industry insiders say her poise and charisma on the runway helped her navigate the competitive Nollywood scene when opportunities arose.
Today, Anunobi reflects on that period as a foundational chapter, one that shaped her career and opened doors to the Nigerian film industry.
