The Assin South District Assembly has taken a major step toward implementing the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda with the official handover of documents for a new market project at Assin Andoe.
Jonathan Birikorang formally presented the project documents to WD Global Engineering Consult Limited and directed the company to begin work immediately.
According to the DCE, the market project is expected to become a major commercial centre for the district and will include supporting facilities such as a car park, school, clinic and fire station.
He said the project would not only stimulate local trade but also improve access to essential services for residents of Assin Andoe and nearby communities.
Mr Birikorang assured residents that the Assembly would closely supervise the project to ensure quality work and timely completion.
Meanwhile, Nana Atta Banafoe III welcomed the development and thanked the government for selecting the town for the project.
He also appealed to the contractor to prioritise the recruitment of local artisans and workers to help reduce unemployment in the community.
