The National Sports College has taken a major step toward strengthening professionalism in Ghana’s sports sector with the graduation of more than 40 participants from its first-ever Certificate Course in Sports Law.
The programme was designed to give sports administrators, former athletes and physical education professionals a deeper understanding of the legal issues shaping modern sport.
Participants received training in areas such as contract law, dispute resolution, FIFA transfer regulations, loan agreements, doping control and the role of international bodies like the Court of Arbitration for Sport and the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Mr Bawah Fusseni, Director of the National Sports College, said the course was intended to build a new generation of sports professionals who are better equipped to manage legal and administrative issues within the industry.
He noted that stronger legal knowledge among sports administrators would help reduce disputes, improve governance and support the long-term development of various sporting disciplines.
The graduating class included football administrators, former athletes and teachers, creating an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and build networks across the sports sector.
With the first batch of graduates now entering the field, the college expects the programme to contribute to higher standards of management and accountability within sports associations across the country.
