The Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) has taken a significant step in strengthening its presence in the Oti Region with the inauguration of a seven-member committee to lead its activities.
The ceremony, held in Dambai, marks a new chapter in GNAFF’s efforts to advocate for farmers and fishermen, ensuring their voices are heard and their concerns addressed. The committee members, drawn from various districts across the region, bring a wealth of experience and expertise in agriculture and fisheries, positioning them well to tackle industry challenges.
Mr. O’Brien Nyarko, Regional Director of Agriculture, administered the swearing-in of the new committee members. He emphasized the crucial role of collaborative leadership in enhancing the agricultural sector and urged the committee to engage closely with stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated committee, Mr. Emmanuel Akpaglo Nyameko, GNAFF Regional Chairman, underscored the importance of unity among farmers and fishermen. He encouraged committee members to be proactive in promoting the welfare of their members and to push for policies and initiatives that enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.
The committee’s mandate includes advocating for improved access to resources, training, and financial support for farmers and fishermen. Additionally, they are tasked with tackling issues such as climate change adaptation, market access, and the adoption of modern farming techniques.
The establishment of this committee is expected to strengthen GNAFF’s presence in the Oti Region, amplifying the voices of farmers and fishermen and creating a platform for continuous dialogue with policymakers. With a dedicated leadership team in place, GNAFF is poised to drive positive change, ensuring that agricultural stakeholders in the region receive the support and representation they deserve.
