Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has embarked on a European monitoring tour as part of early preparations for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The newly appointed Portuguese tactician, unveiled in Accra last week, is using the tour to assess the form of Ghanaian players abroad while also deepening engagement with key members of the national team setup ahead of the global tournament.
Before travelling to Europe, Queiroz spent time in Ghana observing players of the Black Galaxies, continuing his early assessment of the country’s talent pool across both local and international levels.
With extensive experience in international football management, having previously coached Portugal, Iran, Colombia and Egypt, Queiroz is expected to bring a structured approach to squad building and player evaluation.
During the European leg of his tour, the coach has already held meetings with Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew and midfielder Thomas Partey, with further engagements planned with other senior players and leadership figures in the squad.
He is also expected to attend several club fixtures featuring Ghanaian players across different European leagues, as part of efforts to monitor performance and form ahead of squad selection.
Members of his technical team are accompanying him, assisting with scouting duties and tracking both established internationals and emerging prospects eligible to represent Ghana.
Queiroz is expected to lead Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
