A birthday celebration involving the Director-General of the Ghana National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, has sparked criticism on social media after a video from the event went viral online.
The video showed Madam Seddoh singing and dancing with staff members inside the office during what appeared to be a lively birthday gathering. Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy was also seen at the event entertaining guests.
While some viewers described the occasion as harmless staff morale activity, others questioned the timing of the celebration amid reports that many National Service Personnel across the country are still awaiting payment of their allowances.
Critics on social media argued that public officials should show greater sensitivity to the frustrations of young graduates facing financial difficulties due to delayed payments.
Several users also raised concerns about the optics of holding what appeared to be a high-profile celebration at a time when service personnel continue to complain about unpaid stipends.
The incident has since fueled broader conversations online about accountability, leadership and priorities within public institutions.
Others, however, defended the Director-General, insisting that personal celebrations should not automatically be linked to administrative payment challenges.
The Ghana National Service Authority has not yet officially responded to the backlash or concerns raised over the viral video.
