President John Dramani Mahama has embarked on a strategic working visit to London aimed at attracting investment, strengthening economic partnerships, and promoting Ghana’s position as a leading destination for international business.
The visit underscores the government’s broader agenda of accelerating economic transformation through stronger global partnerships and increased foreign direct investment.
Upon his arrival in the United Kingdom, President Mahama was welcomed by Lord Katz MBE of the Royal Household, H.E. Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Sabah Zita Benson.
A major highlight of the visit will be the Ghana-UK Investment Summit, scheduled for Monday at Raffles London. The summit is expected to bring together Ghanaian entrepreneurs and British investors to explore new business opportunities and strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.
The President is also expected to showcase Ghana’s growing role in international financial markets during a visit to the London Stock Exchange, where he will ring the opening bell to commence trading.
In addition to investment-focused engagements, President Mahama will hold a royal audience with King Charles III and participate in a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. These meetings are expected to reinforce the longstanding diplomatic and economic relationship between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
The President will further engage the Ghanaian diaspora through a town hall meeting hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London, providing an opportunity to discuss national development and the role of Ghanaians abroad in supporting economic growth.
His itinerary also includes policy and governance discussions, with scheduled appearances at Chatham House and the 12th Africa Debate at the Guildhall, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s economic vision and investment prospects.
The visit, which concludes on June 3, reflects the administration’s commitment to leveraging international partnerships to drive growth, create jobs, and position Ghana as a competitive investment hub in Africa.
