Vivie’s Dance Academy Launches 10K Legacy Project to Expand Arts Education

Vivie’s Dance and Theatre Academy (VDTA) has unveiled an ambitious 10K Legacy Project aimed at expanding access to performing arts education and training more arts educators as it celebrated its 10th anniversary with a colourful stage production at the National Theatre.

The initiative, announced during Sparkle Day 2026, seeks to increase opportunities for children to participate in performing arts while equipping educators with certified training in creative and holistic movement methodologies to support the growth of Ghana’s creative sector.

Speaking at the event, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the academy, Ms Vivian Boateng, said the project forms part of the academy’s vision to broaden access to quality arts education while creating employment opportunities for young people.

She noted that Africa’s expanding creative economy presents significant opportunities for young people and stressed the need to equip children with essential life skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity and leadership through performing arts.

The anniversary celebration, held under the theme “EvoluXion: Find X,” featured performances by children and young people in ballet, African and contemporary dance, drama, music, acrobatics, taekwondo and skating.

The performances showcased the students’ artistic growth after months of training and preparation, drawing admiration from parents, education stakeholders, members of the diplomatic community and performing arts enthusiasts.

One of the highlights of the production came when some of the youngest performers momentarily missed parts of their routines but received enthusiastic applause from the audience, reflecting the encouraging environment fostered by the academy.

The event climaxed with a multidisciplinary performance by The X, a select group of students trained across various artistic disciplines, whose presentation earned a standing ovation from the audience.

The academy also honoured parents, partner schools and collaborating institutions with awards in recognition of their contributions to its growth over the past decade.

Parents who attended the event praised the academy for helping build confidence, discipline and self-expression in their children, with many describing the performances as evidence of the dedication of both instructors and students.

Over the past 10 years, Vivie’s Dance and Theatre Academy has used dance, drama and musical theatre as tools for nurturing children’s creativity, confidence and personal development.

As it begins its second decade, the academy says it will focus on expanding arts education to more children while investing in the professional development of arts educators to strengthen Ghana’s creative industry for the future.
