The Aflao Traditional Area has launched an ambitious five-year education development programme aimed at expanding access to quality basic education through the construction of five new schools and the rehabilitation of existing educational facilities across the municipality.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Youth Development Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbui Tenuvi II, received the approval of Torgbuiga Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, President of the Aflao Traditional Council.
Under the plan, new basic schools will be established in the communities of Apekotuime, Gakli, Wudoaba, Detokope and Avoeme to reduce overcrowding in existing schools and improve access to education for children in underserved areas.
Speaking on the initiative, Torgbui Tenuvi II said the project reflects the traditional area’s commitment to strengthening educational opportunities and creating a better learning environment for children across the municipality.
In addition to constructing new schools, the five-year programme will focus on rehabilitating selected school infrastructure to improve teaching and learning conditions.
The Development Chief appealed to residents, stakeholders and development partners to support the implementation of the project, while urging the government to collaborate with traditional authorities to accelerate educational development in the area.
Torgbui Tenuvi II has consistently championed educational initiatives within the municipality, having previously provided support for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates and contributed towards the improvement of school infrastructure.
Known in private life as Mr. Felix Akakpo Akonta, he was installed as Development Chief under the stool name Torgbui Tenuvi II in recognition of his longstanding contributions to community and educational development.
The new education agenda is expected to enhance access to basic education, ease pressure on existing schools and contribute to the long-term socio-economic development of the Aflao Municipality.
