New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has congratulated the newly elected regional executives of the party following the successful completion of the regional elections across Ghana.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 16, 2026, Dr Bawumia described the peaceful conduct of the elections as a reaffirmation of the NPP’s commitment to internal democracy and respect for the will of its members.
He expressed confidence that the newly elected regional executives would provide the leadership needed to strengthen the party’s structures and position the NPP for victory in the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Dr Bawumia also commended all candidates who offered themselves for service during the regional contests, regardless of the outcome.
He urged unsuccessful candidates to put the elections behind them and rally behind the newly elected executives in the interest of the party.
According to him, the regional contests have now ended, and the greater task ahead is to unite the party and channel renewed energy into preparations for the 2028 elections.
“The regional contest is over; the greater task is unity and renewed energy to secure victory in 2028, and it begins now,” Dr Bawumia said.
His call comes as the NPP continues its internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections. Dr Bawumia made a similar appeal to unsuccessful constituency executive aspirants following the party’s constituency-level elections in July, urging them to work with those elected to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
The latest regional elections have therefore set the stage for the newly elected executives to assume responsibility for rebuilding party structures, promoting unity and mobilising members across the regions ahead of the next electoral contest.
