The Ghana Police Service has promoted seven officers, including six junior officers and one senior officer, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership within the Service.
The decoration ceremony, held at the National Police Headquarters in Accra today, was led by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) in attendance.
The promotions were in recognition of the officers’ role in the successful arrest of five suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of a 40-year-old gold buyer, Seth Kobina, at Agona Fie near Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.
Addressing the media at the Headquarters, the Director-General of the Legal and Prosecution Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, COP Joseph Oklu Gyamera, congratulated the officers on their advancement and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
He emphasised that the new ranks come with increased responsibility, particularly at a time when public expectations of the Police Service remain high in areas such as crime prevention, public safety and trust-building.
He said the promotions are intended not only to reward performance but also to reinforce the Service’s leadership structure as part of ongoing reforms to enhance operational effectiveness nationwide.
The ceremony also underscored the Service’s commitment to recognising excellence and motivating officers to maintain high professional standards in line with its mandate to protect life and property.
