Ghanaian teenage forward Kofi Mensah has taken a significant step in his football career after securing a two-year scholarship deal with English club Wycombe Wanderers.
Mensah joins the club’s youth setup from Ghanaian side Train Hard Play Hard FC (THPH FC), following performances that impressed Wycombe’s technical team and academy recruitment staff.
The young attacker reportedly caught the club’s attention during a pre-season fixture against Farnham Town, where his displays helped convince the technical handlers to offer him a scholarship.
Wycombe’s Head of Academy Recruitment, Nathan Marshall, described Mensah as an exciting wide player with the ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations and create opportunities for teammates.
“Kofi has very good ball manipulation skills and enjoys progressing play,” Marshall said, highlighting the teenager’s confidence and attacking qualities.
Mensah’s move has also attracted praise from his former club, THPH FC, which credited his discipline, commitment and hard work for helping him secure the opportunity despite having spent only a few months with the team.
In a social media post celebrating his achievement, the club said the scholarship was a testament to the effort he had invested both on and off the pitch, despite facing several setbacks along the way.
The teenager has already begun gaining experience at his new club, making his Premier League 2 debut for Wycombe Wanderers against Brentford FC.
His progression into English football presents an important opportunity to develop his abilities within a structured academy environment as he seeks to establish himself at the next level.
