MTN Ghana has launched a robust year-long campaign aimed at empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), with a special spotlight on women-led businesses. This is part of its strategic move to boost Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Dubbed “MTN SME Accelerate” and themed “Business Done Smarter, Faster, and Better,” the initiative shifts from a once-monthly observance to a continuous, year-round engagement. It is designed to equip SMEs—especially those run by women—with the digital tools, market access, and training needed to thrive in a fast-evolving economic landscape.
At the launch event in Accra, MTN Ghana CEO Stephen Blewett emphasized the telecom giant’s deep investment in SME development as a catalyst for national growth. “We understand the crucial role SMEs play in shaping economies and creating jobs, and we’re committed to helping them succeed—especially in this digital era,” Blewett stated.
Angela Mensah-Poku, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN, stressed the need to tackle persistent barriers facing SMEs, including limited digitization, poor access to finance, and lack of capacity. She announced the introduction of the MTN Adwumapa Bundle, a tailored package created specifically for women-led SMEs. The bundle offers enhanced connectivity, business tools, and exclusive access to fairs and market opportunities.
The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) CEO, Margaret Ansei, applauded MTN’s initiative and pledged continued collaboration to drive long-term SME growth and national economic advancement.
As part of the broader campaign, MTN plans to roll out leadership training programs, sector-specific workshops, and grassroots market activations throughout the year. The initiative will culminate in the MTN SME Grow Africa (SMEGA) Awards, celebrating high-performing SMEs and spotlighting their impact.
With this bold digital and inclusive drive, MTN Ghana is not just promoting connectivity—it’s building a stronger, smarter SME sector, one entrepreneur at a time.
