A spark of academic brilliance lit up the Hohoe Municipality as Hohoe Ghana Presby School clinched first place in the maiden edition of the Lead Connect Global Quiz Competition, an initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence and critical thinking among primary school learners.
The competition, held under the theme “Bright Yao Afeku’s Maiden Edition,” saw seven schools battle it out in a test of knowledge, wit, and composure. Hohoe Presby School emerged as champions, scoring an impressive 87 points, narrowly edging out Fodome Woe/Agbetsido M.A. Basic School, which followed closely with 85 points.
The event placed Gbi-Atabu third with 77 points, while the rest of the rankings included Alavanyo Agorme E.P. Primary (76), Holy Rosary R.C. Primary (73), St. Francis Demonstration (63), and Gbledi Gborgame R.C. Primary School (62).
Bright Yao Afeku, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lead Connect Global and CEO of Bright Wondowtech Limited, emphasized the broader mission behind the competition. “Education is the bedrock of development, and empowering young minds is not just a responsibility but a necessity,” he stated.
Over the past month, Lead Connect Global has been actively engaging communities in Hohoe through voluntary teaching initiatives in under-resourced areas such as Wli Todzi, Fodome Ahoe, and Gbledi Gborgame. These efforts have revealed not only the dedication of teachers but also the untapped potential and enthusiasm of learners in these communities.
Mr. Afeku underscored that the quiz marks yet another milestone in their drive to nurture talent and build confident, informed future leaders. The competition forms part of a growing list of impactful programmes, including the inspirational series “A Talk with the Experts,” which targets students in senior high schools.
Mr. Victor Kwaku Kovey, Hohoe Municipal Education Director, praised the contest for providing a platform for academic engagement, describing it as a significant contribution to the learning journey of participating students.
Adding a development-focused perspective, Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, reiterated his commitment to transforming education in the constituency. He revealed plans for constructing 20 ICT centers and teacher accommodation facilities, alongside an upcoming award scheme for teachers to incentivize excellence and foster a culture of educational achievement.
As Hohoe Presby School basks in their well-deserved glory, the real triumph lies in the awakening of curiosity, the celebration of knowledge, and the elevation of educational standards for every participating school. The Lead Connect Global quiz has indeed set the stage for a brighter academic future in the Volta Region.
