A massive fire broke out at the Bush Canteen, a well-known eatery on the University of Ghana, Legon campus, on Wednesday evening, destroying properties worth thousands of cedis.
Eyewitnesses reported that the blaze was triggered by a suspected gas explosion, causing flames to spread rapidly across the canteen area. Thick plumes of smoke billowed into the night sky, prompting panic as students and vendors fled to safety.
Videos circulating on social media capture the intensity of the fire, with bright orange flames engulfing the structures. Firefighters swiftly responded to the emergency, working tirelessly to contain the inferno and prevent further damage.
Although no casualties have been reported, authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the explosion. Investigations are expected to commence to assess the full extent of the damage and ensure safety measures are reinforced in the area.
