Former hiplife artiste turned gospel minister, Yaw Siki, has opened up about the dark chapter of his life that led him down a destructive path of addiction and spiritual void, before finding redemption through faith.
In an emotionally charged interview with DrPounds on Pounds TV, Yaw Siki revealed the depths of his past, sharing shocking details of his struggles with sex addiction, substance abuse, and a sense of spiritual emptiness that once consumed him. He spoke candidly about the difficulties he faced, including a battle with pornography, which eventually led to a crippling addiction to masturbation.
“I used to chop ashawo and I was addicted to porno,” Yaw Siki confessed, leaving many stunned by his raw honesty. He connected his addiction to adult content with his frustration at not being able to form intimate relationships with women, an experience that only worsened his downward spiral.
The hiplife star also shared his experiences in Tema’s vibrant music scene, describing himself as a hedonist who indulged in alcohol and marijuana. “I was a heavy drinker. I knew how to drink waa. I also knew how to smoke waa. If you were looking for one of the artistes in Tema who knew how to smoke, I was one of them,” he said, recounting his reckless lifestyle.
However, Yaw Siki emphasized that he’s not sharing these painful memories out of guilt, but as part of his journey of transformation. He made it clear that he no longer identifies with the man he once was and has no shame in revealing his past as a testimony of change.
“I’m not ashamed to say it now because they are no more. They won’t be embarrassed by it,” he said, reflecting on how far he’s come since his days of indulgence.
