A suspected love triangle has landed a 52-year-old steel bender, Kojo Senagbe, in police custody after he allegedly launched a violent machete attack on a carpenter he accused of “snatching” his girlfriend.
Senagbe, who resides at Community 14 Annex in Lashibi, pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing unlawful harm when he appeared before the court presided over by Mr. Kwabena Obiri Yeboah. The case has been adjourned to June 6, 2025, for the prosecution to file necessary disclosures.
According to Chief Inspector Belinda Asante, who is leading the prosecution, the incident occurred on the night of May 10, 2025. The victim, Oliver Zinto, was walking home around 10:30 p.m. when Senagbe intercepted him and demanded he stop. Zinto, sensing danger, ignored the demand and kept walking — only for Senagbe to ambush him with a machete.
Zinto suffered deep wounds to his scalp, left ear, back, and arm before managing to overpower his attacker and wrestle the weapon away. He was later rescued and given first aid before receiving additional medical care.
Following the attack, Senagbe fled the scene, but was arrested two days later on May 12. In a caution statement made in the presence of an independent witness, Senagbe admitted to the attack, confessing that jealousy over a woman motivated his actions.
Police recovered the machete during their investigations, and the case is now awaiting full trial proceedings.
