The AMAGYEI Foundation, the philanthropic arm of an Accra-based law firm, has secured a significant boost in its mission to empower underprivileged youths and adults in rural communities following a recent engagement with Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Paramount Chief of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council.
During a courtesy visit led by Madam Ofosua Amagyei, Managing Attorney of the Foundation, and members of its advisory board, the Foundation’s commitment to equipping vulnerable individuals aged 16 to 45 with vital skills and resources was warmly received by the traditional authority.
Since its establishment in 2024, AMAGYEI Foundation has trained 85 young people—primarily women—in producing essential household products like laundry soap, shampoo, hair oils, and antiseptic disinfectants. The training goes beyond production techniques, encompassing packaging, marketing, and regulatory compliance, including registration with the Food and Drugs Authority and the Registrar of Companies.
Madam Ofosua Amagyei highlighted partnerships with the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service and the Complementary Education Agency to ensure that beneficiaries receive hands-on skills training and literacy support tailored to their education levels. A select group of 10 beneficiaries will receive startup capital to launch their own enterprises, marking a critical step towards sustainable self-reliance.
In a show of solidarity with the Foundation’s vision, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin donated 50,000 Ghana cedis to support the Foundation’s infrastructural growth. The Paramount Chief also urged distant natives to contribute to the development of rural communities, emphasizing the need for improved social amenities such as libraries and healthcare facilities.
The AMAGYEI Foundation’s ongoing efforts to uplift rural populations have thus garnered crucial traditional leadership endorsement, setting a promising path for expanded community impact through skills development and economic empowerment.
