Businessman and National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Alfred Agbesi Woyome is seeking a place in the party’s national leadership, having filed his nomination to contest the position of National Vice Chairperson.
His nomination was submitted by former Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the party, Dr Catherine Deynu, who believes his experience and contributions to the NDC make him well-positioned to strengthen the party’s organisational structures.
Dr Deynu said Mr Woyome’s ambition was driven by a desire to empower party members, particularly at the grassroots and constituency levels, to improve the party’s organisational capacity and sustain its electoral success.
Speaking to Citi News, she argued that the businessman had contributed significantly to the party over the years and deserved the opportunity to play a greater role in its leadership.
She said his elevation to the national executive would help strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and equip constituency-level members with the capacity to sustain the NDC’s electoral fortunes.
“Many people can attest to these facts. He has done a lot for the party, and this is the time for him to be at the helm of affairs to ensure that our grassroots members are empowered and that those at the constituency level have their capacity built,” she said.
Dr Deynu added that Mr Woyome’s vision extended beyond party organisation, with sustainable job creation identified as one of the priorities of his proposed leadership agenda.
She said his ambition was to contribute to building a stronger and more effective party capable of maintaining electoral victories in future elections.
The NDC is scheduled to elect its national executives at its National Delegates Congress on Saturday, December 19, 2026, as part of its ongoing reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
