Atlantic Catering has made history as the first full-service catering and hospitality company in Ghana to become a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), a landmark move that underscores its commitment to corporate sustainability and responsible business practices.
The UNGC is the world’s largest voluntary initiative encouraging businesses to align their operations with ten universally accepted principles covering human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption, while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Welcoming the company into the UNGC network at a formal ceremony, Mr. Tolu Lacroix, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Ghana, applauded Atlantic Catering’s leadership in embracing sustainability. He said the company’s participation will strengthen efforts to embed ethical and sustainable practices across Ghana’s private sector.
Through its internal CARES initiative, Atlantic Catering has already taken steps to integrate sustainability into its day-to-day operations. These include commitments to waste reduction, ethical sourcing, and enhancing employee welfare.
CEO of Atlantic Catering, Madam Maud Lindsay-Gamrat, described the company’s decision as a reflection of its values and long-term vision. She said true hospitality involves not just food and service, but care for people, communities, and the planet.
The announcement coincided with World Environment Month, highlighting the company’s focus on reducing its environmental impact while championing sustainable business in Ghana’s growing hospitality industry.
Madam Lindsay-Gamrat expressed optimism about joining the global sustainability community, noting that Atlantic Catering looks forward to contributing meaningfully and learning from best practices worldwide.
