Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has firmly rejected claims that Gomoa Central MP, Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A Plus, has been ousted from the Majority Caucus WhatsApp platform over tensions with Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine.
In a statement released on Saturday, May 3, 2025, Ayariga described the report, first carried by GhanaWeb, as “false and misleading,” urging the media outlet to correct what he called a “misinformation-laden” story.
“The attention of the Office of the Majority Leader has been drawn to a publication by GhanaWeb… The said publication is entirely false and misleading,” the statement clarified.
Contrary to the report’s assertions, Ayariga confirmed that A Plus retains full membership within the Majority Caucus and continues to have access to its official digital communication channel.
“For the avoidance of doubt,” the statement emphasized, “Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng… remains a full member of the Majority Caucus in Parliament and continues to be on the official Majority Caucus WhatsApp platform. There has been no removal.”
The Majority Leader’s response seeks to put to rest any public speculation about an internal rift or punitive action against A Plus, following recent controversies surrounding social media comments attributed to him.
Ayariga further appealed to GhanaWeb to retract the erroneous story and issue a public correction to prevent further circulation of the inaccurate report.
