Mr. Sebastian Obeng, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, has called on Ghanaians to embrace the upcoming National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving as a powerful vehicle for healing, unity, and national transformation.
Scheduled for July 1, 2025, the maiden event will be held under the theme “Reflect, Reset and Renewal for National Prosperity” and is expected to bring together citizens across political, religious, and social divides in a moment of collective introspection and spiritual redirection.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Obeng highlighted the symbolic and practical importance of the day in aligning the country’s moral compass with its development aspirations.
“This initiative is not just about prayer—it’s a national reset button,” he said. “It is about asking for wisdom, reflecting on our collective journey, and seeking divine guidance to achieve President Mahama’s agenda of renewal and transformation.”
The MCE believes that national prosperity is intrinsically linked to spiritual alignment and urged residents of his municipality, as well as all Ghanaians, to fully participate.
He described the Day of Prayer as an opportunity to harness the moral power of faith to consolidate Ghana’s democratic gains and deepen the values of peace, accountability, and national cohesion.
Mr. Obeng called on churches, mosques, traditional councils, civil society organizations, and political actors to unite in spirit and purpose, adding: “Ghana has long been a beacon of stability in Africa. Let us come together to preserve and strengthen that legacy.”
He concluded by urging Ghanaians to view the event not only as a spiritual observance but as a national imperative toward building a renewed, united, and prosperous future.
