Atlantic Essential Development Incorporated, a non-governmental organisation, has begun processes to construct a mechanised borehole at Bibiani Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Western North Region.
The initiative comes after the NGO engaged with the school’s leadership during a recent camp meeting, where the urgent need for reliable water supply was highlighted. Following the interaction, the organisation’s Board of Directors approved the project as part of its ongoing efforts to support essential community infrastructure.
Stephen Aboagye, Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Essential Development, confirmed the borehole initiative and noted that it aligns with the organisation’s broader vision of improving access to basic utilities in educational institutions. He cited a similar project previously executed at Queens Senior High School, the only all-girls senior high school in the region, following an appeal from the President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, and the Bibiani Municipal Assembly.
Expressing appreciation, George Baidooh, Headmaster of Bibiani SHTS, said the borehole would significantly ease the school’s water challenges, particularly for dormitories and staff residences. He acknowledged the vital roles played by the Bibiani Municipal Assembly, the school’s alumni, the Parents Association, and PW Mining Company, all of whom have contributed over the years to ensure students have access to water.
Mr. Baidooh pledged to ensure proper maintenance of the facility upon its completion, emphasizing the importance of sustainable water management in educational institutions.
