Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, will intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a series of high-profile international friendlies, as head coach Otto Addo prepares to name his squad for the upcoming matches.
The team is scheduled to take on Austria on March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna before travelling to Stuttgart to face four-time world champions Germany on March 30.
The matches form part of a broader build-up strategy aimed at sharpening the squad ahead of the global tournament, with additional friendlies lined up against Mexico in May and Wales in early June.
Coach Addo is expected to assemble a strong squad for the fixtures as he assesses player form, tests combinations and finalises his core team for the tournament.
Ghana, making its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, has been drawn in a competitive Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, followed by a crucial encounter with England on June 23, before rounding off the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
After disappointing early exits at the 2014 and 2022 tournaments, the team is aiming to make a stronger impact at the 2026 edition, which will be hosted across Mexico, the United States and Canada.
The upcoming friendlies are expected to play a key role in shaping the squad and boosting confidence as Ghana seeks to improve its performance on football’s biggest stage.
