The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has suspended its nationwide strike, paving the way for renewed negotiations with the government over salary structure and conditions of service.
The decision, taken by the National Executive Committee of the Association, follows a request by the government for a 14-day window to address the concerns raised by the union.
Addressing the media on Monday, March 17, Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, explained that the suspension is a strategic move to create room for constructive dialogue and reach an amicable settlement.
“The decision is intended to allow space for engagement with the government toward resolving the outstanding issues,” he said.
CLOGSAG had earlier embarked on the industrial action to demand the implementation of a revised salary structure and improved conditions of service for its members across the civil and local government sectors.
Following the suspension, the Association has directed all members to resume work on Tuesday, March 24, signaling a temporary return to normalcy in public sector operations.
The leadership expressed optimism that the negotiation period would result in tangible outcomes and urged members to comply fully with the directive while talks continue.
The move is expected to ease disruptions in public services across the country, as both the government and the union work toward a lasting resolution.
