Actress Efia Odo has urged authorities to improve communication around ongoing power supply challenges, arguing that citizens should be properly informed whenever outages are expected.
Speaking on United Showbiz on UTV, she questioned the lack of clarity surrounding the recurring electricity interruptions and called for more openness from officials.
“Let us know what’s the real reason umsor is happening because when we calculate the power, it doesn’t make sense,” she said.
She drew comparisons with systems in other countries, saying advance notice is typically provided to help people prepare.
“In America, when there’s an incident, you’re notified so you will know what to do,” she noted.
According to her, Ghana should adopt a similar approach where consumers are alerted ahead of scheduled or anticipated outages.
“When the light is about to go off, we should be notified,” she added.
Efia Odo also commented on the political dimension of the issue, suggesting that no leader would intentionally want to be associated with persistent power challenges.
“I don’t think any politician would deliberately want to give themselves a bad name,” she said.
Referencing President John Dramani Mahama, she added that the situation should be addressed with honesty and clarity if it is not meant to damage public trust.
“I don’t think he intentionally wants dumsor to be a thing that brings him down. And if he doesn’t want it to bring him down, then they need to be honest,” she stated.
