The Food and Drugs Authority has renewed its warning against the sale and purchase of drugs on the streets and in commercial vehicles, describing the practice as illegal and dangerous.
Speaking in Sunyani, Charles Opoku Gyamfi said the FDA had not approved any form of drug sales in buses, lorry stations or on roadsides.
He cautioned that members of the public who continue to buy medicines from such sources do so at their own risk.
According to him, many of the drugs sold in these places are not medically approved and may pose serious health risks to consumers.
Mr Gyamfi also reminded street drug sellers and vendors operating in vehicles that the practice is prohibited by law and warned that offenders could face prosecution if arrested.
He urged the public, especially travellers, to report such activities to the police or the FDA to help protect public health.
Mr Gyamfi further encouraged herbal medicine producers and plant medicine manufacturers to register their businesses with the FDA to ensure their products meet safety standards.
