Fidelity Bank Ghana has commissioned two new education infrastructure projects in Tema and Assin Wurakese in the Central Region as part of its ongoing Orange Impact Initiative aimed at improving learning conditions in underserved communities.
The projects include the refurbishment of the Tema Community 1 Day Care Centre at Site 10, featuring upgraded daycare facilities, washrooms, a water tank, and a rainwater harvesting system. The bank also constructed a six-unit classroom block for Assin Wurakese School, complemented by a rainwater harvesting system and a school garden to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.
According to a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, the two projects represent the 12th and 13th schools completed under the initiative, which targets 15 marginalised schools nationwide over a five-year period.
Launched in 2022, the Orange Impact Initiative focuses on improving educational infrastructure, providing modern learning tools, and enhancing teaching and learning environments in deprived communities. The bank says it is on course to meet its target ahead of schedule.
Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Ghana, Mr Julian Opuni, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to shaping better futures by investing in safe and inspiring learning spaces for children.
He noted that supporting education goes beyond infrastructure, adding that it is about creating conditions that allow young people to realise their potential and contribute to national development.
Head of Partnerships, Sustainability and CSR at the bank, Nana Yaa Afriyie Ofori-Koree, also explained that the programme responds directly to the challenges faced by schools in underserved areas, where learning conditions often hinder educational progress.
She said the inclusion of rainwater harvesting systems and school gardens also introduces students to sustainable practices as part of a broader learning experience.
Since its launch, the initiative has supported several schools across Ghana, including basic schools in Accra, Techiman, Pakyi Banko, Fodome Kordzeto, and others, with additional facilities such as ICT and e-learning infrastructure.
