The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has demonstrated its operational capabilities and military preparedness at a firepower exercise in Bundase, assuring the public of its ability to protect the country’s territorial integrity amid emerging security threats.
The demonstration, held at the Battle Training Camp in Bundase, formed part of the military’s efforts to showcase its equipment, combat capabilities and readiness to respond to threats against national security.
General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brigadier General Edward Awaribey, said the Armed Forces remained committed to defending Ghana against external aggression and any attempts to destabilise the country.
Speaking at the 2026 Static and Firepower Demonstration, he stressed that the military was motivated, adequately trained and equipped to respond decisively to security challenges.
“Let me use this opportunity to assure the nation that the Ghana Armed Forces remains motivated, mission-oriented, mission-ready, highly trained, well-equipped, and prepared to respond decisively to any form of aggression or destabilisation,” he said.
Brigadier General Awaribey said the military was also strengthening its operational effectiveness by drawing lessons from security operations across the West African sub-region.
He noted that incorporating experiences from regional operations would help improve the Armed Forces’ adaptability and preparedness in dealing with evolving security threats.
The annual demonstration provides an opportunity for the military to assess and display its operational capabilities, while highlighting its commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s sovereignty and national security.
